Do not dismiss this simple pale looking pie!!Just had to share this one with you!
This Chocolate Fudge Pie came from Susie Clark, Milam TX...I found this recipe in my copy of The Second Typically Texas Cookbook. I don't know Susie Clark but I'm telling you that she understands the need for good chocolate!! I'm sure she's famous among friends.
Here's the wonderful recipe:
Chocolate Fudge Pie
4 eggs, well beaten
2 cups sugar
1 t. vanilla
2 sticks margarine, melted
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup flour
Pinch of salt
1 9 inch pie shell, unbaked
Mix all ingedients together well. Pour into pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees F. about 50 minutes or until set.
Note: This delicious pie comes out crusty on the top and ooey gooey inside!! You will be amazed at how wonderfully it all comes together. Another thing, it's simple to make.
Thanks for coming by and let me know if you try this pie. :)
Kitchen Trainwreck Story:
Well, I guess we are supposed to share a kitchen trainwreck we've experienced...One time years ago when I was hosting Bunco...I was running around in that mania that hits just before company comes. I had a cake in the oven. Suddenly, smoke was billowing in my kitchen. When I ran to the oven to see what was wrong I discovered a cup towel in the oven on fire! The ashes were blowing all around in the oven. Yikes! I hate to openly admit this but I think we ate the cake anyway. Some other time I will share some of the mishaps that my other Bunco friends have experienced...it will keep you in stitches.

Bet that pie is tasty! Funny Bunco story..I've had my share. I once locked myself out of the house..right after I put a cake in the oven. My husband had just left to go out of town. It took me 2 hours to get someone to help me into the house. Surprisingly the cake was only brown not black as I expected.
I can't wait to try this pie, I love sweets and love stumbling upon new recipes. Thanks for sharing! Loved the story, I too would eat the cake!
The pie sounds delicious@ Can't wait to try it!

That gives new meaning to the term "hostess heat" :) !!
Your cup towel story made me laugh! I'm sure your cake was fine and I would have eaten some too! The chocolate pie looks and sounds delicious. I will have to try it! Thanks for sharing, Jewel
The pie looks yummy -- thanks for sharing!
This pie looks delicious! J would love this!
This pie sounds really good. I like how it develops a crusty surface. I'm the person that likes the "skin" on pudding and the crackly shells on chocolate candy. Mmmm! I bet your cake still tasted great anyway! ~ Robyn
This pie sounds wonderful. And it sounds pretty easy too. I'm not a big pie baker, but I will try this one! Kathy
I will definitely be trying this pie for sure! It looks so delicious and easy. Thanks for sharing this great recipe. Amy

Gosh this sounds so good.
Thanks Stacey. :)
Hey Stacey, Awesome sounding pie...I love chocolate, so will give it a try.
So far, for Bunko or Bridge, I haven't had a major disaster, but I am sure one is in the makiing. Glad you didn't have a fire. Sorry but had to grin thinking of ashes floating around.
Thanks for caring words at the loss of Roy's mother.
A Chocolate Pie...the weekend...guests from out- of- state...perfect timing. Thank you Stacey. Thanks also for sharing the story of the shipwreck, because we have all been there and can relate.
That pie looks perfectly delicious. I'll be copying that recipe for sure.
I am really curious about the cup towel and am glad to see there is at least one other person who has never heard that term before.
LOL Stacey, you are sooo funny! I'd would eaten the cake, too...can't let a cake go to waste! Oh...and I think that's perfectly fine for to spray the linen water on your sheets. I've actually bought some before that suggested that! :-) Now I'm craving chocolate pie!
Susan
Goodness gracious! That pie sounds so good. I wish you would make me one..purdy please?? I need to save this recipe and maybe even try it at Easter.
I laughed about your burning towel and then serving the cake. I would have done the same thing.

Call the fire brigade!!!!! :) Love that pie.. yum!
Now THIS looks like a pie that could not fail ... loved your comment on my pie blooper. We would have needed a straw to eat my first effort!!!!
Looks and sounds delicious! The planter chair you asked about is by my backdoor, which is where we come and go.
That pie sounds wonderful! I love the ooey gooey part :-)....
I have burned many a dinner - but one thing I seem to ALWAYS burn are the dinner rolls!

That pie does look mouth watering! I could go for a big can of whipped cream too! Your Bunco story is hilarious, that would be just my luck! Have a great week.

My two favorites: chocolate and easy! Will have to make this recipe :-)
Hi Stacey...I have been having an intense craving for chocolate the last few days & I believe this pie would cure it...thanks!
Burnt cup towel smelling cake doesn't sound so bad when I think of the cake I served with shards of broken glass in it...(I was 12)
;-) Bo
Yummm - and I'm craving chocolate. :)
Too bad blogs aren't scented; I'd settle on just a whiff of that pie. It sounds delish! I love the fire story; I'd have still eaten the cake, too!
I don't see this weeks FF post..so I'll comment here...Happy Foodie Friday! Have a great weekend ~ Susan
BJ was telling about your pie so I had to come over and check it out.
Betty
You never know what you may find when you "google" your name! I am Susie Clark from Milam, Texas. The pie receipe is my husband's grandmother's. She was from Henderson Tx. His mother Billie Clark passed it on to me as it was one of her "baby's" favorites. Jimmy and I have been married 32 years for prespective...long enough to scorch a towel or two in the oven! Thanks for making me smile today!:) Susie
