Looking Back at 2012 and Looking Foward

My husband and I have spent a lot of time talking about this past year lately.

I won't lie...it has been hard and I'm glad it's over.
Don't think I've ever said that about a year before.

There's nothing like a new year
to make you feel renewed, positive, and fresh.

I like new beginnings. :)

Not to moan continuously but moving from our town of Edmond, OK after 23 years was so much harder than I ever could have dreamed. If you've never done it you just can't imagine.

SAD...moving made me sad and that's really the only word for it.

There are people we love with our whole heart and soul there!

Our #1 son is there and friends who are God given blessings.

(Spencer)

The tears don't come as often as they did over the summer...thank goodness because it has been emotional, I'm telling ya. This normally upbeat girl has been a mess!

So....

I'm looking forward to time with some old friends who live here in the Dallas area.

Looking forward to making new friends.

Looking forward to a new Bunco group starting in January.

I have plans to volunteer with an adult literacy program because I really miss teaching!

And there is a lot of fun to be had in Dallas.

(My honey at the Dallas Arboretum)

This new house is getting prettier and homier by the day.

(Before we moved in.)

We are pretty proud of some DIY projects we've done lately and have
discovered that we are capable to more than we thought.

I promise to share more pictures this year.

Long story short, we have so much to be thankful for
and to look forward to.

I am making New Year's Resolutions

What are you looking forward to in 2013?

I know you've had an emotional year, Stacey. I have never moved, we have been in this house 27 years. Once we nearly bought a home in another town and the thought of it was scary...and you moved out of state!! Your home is just beautiful and I look forward to seeing more of it in 2013!

XO,
Jane

I know how hard it is to move and to be away from family. You'll enjoy it more this next year! And you have a beautiful home to make your own. I'm looking forward to whatever life holds! I'm excited for a new beginning! Happy New Year!

Stacey, so glad to see you here! I have been scarce but trying to be posting more, life got in the way! I LOVE your new home! Is it a Garrell Associates plan? Looks just like one, ours is one too!
I can only imagine how hard it was to move after so long. I moved 4 miles away and I was an emotional mess! Life does that sometimes! Anyway, at least we all have each other in blog land! And it looks like this year is going to be a fun one for you! Happy New Year! :)

Hi Stacey,
Change is so hard...when we moved to OKC it was hard for us to adjust with no family nearby. After 30 years it has become "home" and would be hard to move now. I hope 2013 will be a year full of blessings for you and your family! Your new home is gorgeous!!
Have a Happy New Year!

I didn't realize that you had made such a big move. I understand completely. Your post reminded me of myself from several years ago. Moving is one of the hardest things to get through. We moved several times over the years and it was so very difficult. People who haven't done it just don't get it. Hang in there. It does get easier. And I am right with you in wanting this year to be over and I am looking forward to 2013. Happy New Year!!

Stacey, it does get easier, once you start to settle into your new home. We've done 5 corporate moves; and it's never easy leaving good friends behind. BUT, you will meet lots of great people here; and we are going to hang out! Promise!!! Happy New Year!!!

Sounds like a bittersweet year Stacey. I love your positive attitude and I give you credit for your honesty. I'm looking forward to a healthy (I hope!) 2013. We had a tough 2012 that's for sure! It started with oldest very suddenly needing a heart catheter and ended with baby being diagnosed with Autism. But God doesn't give us more than we can handle right? I just wish He didn't have so much confidence in me sometimes! LOL!
Happy New Year friend!!
xoxo,
Kim

Yes, I know moving from a loved place must be very hard indeed. Altho we are planning a move shortly, we will be even closer to both our children and all the grands. I could live on the moon if my family is there. :)
Your new house is AWESOME, girlfriend. My goodness...it looks HUGE.
Take care and have a lovely New Year's Day.

I felt sad when I read this post. I wondered how you seemed to make the transisition so easily. But, like everything in life, it is often different than it seems. I cannot imagine doing what you did. I appreciate your spirit about the coming year. It touched my heart today and inspired me. Thank you for sharing what was on your heart.

Wishing you joys and new adventures in your coming year. Your house is beautiful!

We lived in Dallas for 18 months when my children were younger. I remember that it was soooo hot in the summer that the kids and I put an egg out on the front walk and it actually cooked! Loved the Dallas zoo and the Ft Worth zoo. It was a neat place to live.
